P.E. & HEALTH Grades 7-8
Required
This is a required course for all boys and girls in grades 7 and 8. The course will deal with two concepts. The first concept will be the health and physical well being of each student through various activities, strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance will be worked on. Secondly, team and individual sports will be taught. Written curriculum will include the five basic principles of fitness and the performance factors of movement.

HEALTH 8
Per Administration Grade 8
This course covers current health issues involving risky lifestyle behaviors as well as stress and depression. Age appropriate lessons on sexually transmitted diseases, sexual harassment, and AIDS are taught with an emphasis placed on chastity. The Archdiocesan Circle of Grace program is taught.
(Full Year Meets Every Other Day – 5 Credits)
P.E. & HEALTH 9 Grade 9
Required
This is a required course for all 9th grade boys and girls. It will review and expand upon fitness concepts taught in the 8th grade and the junior high curriculum. In this class all students will be introduced to Scotus' strength/flexibility development program and cardio-vascular activities.
(Full Year Meets Every Other Day – 5 Credits)
P.E. & Health 10 Grade 10
Required
This course will review and expand upon fitness concepts taught in the 9th grade and the junior high curriculum. Strength/flexibility training, cardiovascular conditioning, and various team and individual sports modified for the co-educational setting, will be emphasized.
(Semester – 5 Credits)
HEALTH Grades 11-12
Elective
This is an elective course for juniors and seniors covering current health issues such as eating disorders, basic nutrition and fad diets, supermarket shopping techniques, alcohol use and abuse, club drugs WAIT/abstinence training including healthy relationship skills and STD/HIV information, stress management including depression and suicide, and American Red Cross CPR and Basic First Aid certification (approximate cost is $15.00 for books and fees).

STRENGTH TRAINING Grades 11-12
Elective
This course will be a co-ed class and a course available to all juniors and seniors. It is a course where an individual strength program will be developed for each student and that student will have an opportunity to put the program to use. After 20 credits, this course may be taken with instructor permission for no credit and if during the school day will replace a study hall.
