Scotus History
For the past 118 years, Scotus has proudly served the needs of Catholic education in Columbus, Nebraska. The school was started by Franciscan Sisters and was known as St. Francis Academy. In 1925, St. Bonaventure Parish bought the Academy and changed its name to St. Bonaventure High School. In 1965, it was reorganized as a 7-12 grade diocesan school, and Scotus Central Catholic was born. Currently Scotus serves close to five hundred students. In the past 15 years, nearly 95% of Scotus graduates have continued on to attend college. The recent graduation classes have garnered scholarships in excess of a million and a half dollars, an average of $17,000 - $20,000 per graduate. Scotus graduates continually demonstrate high levels of academic and athletic achievement throughout their post-high endeavors. Chuck Hagel (to the top) and Kim Robak (to the bottom) are among our outstanding alumni.
