Scotus Cox Classic 18th Hole
Second Annual
The Second Annual Scotus “Cox Classic” 18th Hole was a tremendous success raising $10,300 for the Scotus Legacy Campaign. The event, held on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the Champions Run Golf Course in Omaha was hosted by Asset Strategies and organized by Jon Kubler ’91, Cory Christiansen ’91 and Joe Puetz ’01. More than a dozen Scotus faculty and staff joined nearly 100 Shamrock boosters to view outstanding golf and share the special camaraderie of the Shamrock faithful. Everyone enjoyed the amenities of an entire skybox on the 18th hole of Champions Run GC including an all-day grounds pass to the Cox Classic, free food and beverages. Skybox sponsors also provided a host of door prizes with coach John Petersen taking home a new putter and Scotus teacher Barb Malicky winning a wine tasting party, just to name a few. The Cox Classic tournament attracts nearly 100,000 spectators annually and is the only nationally televised professional sporting event in Nebraska. Besides the privately organized fundraising for Scotus that is dovetailed with the tourney, the Cox Classic provides charitable support for many nonprofit agencies in the Omaha metro area.
Plans are already underway for the 2009 Scotus “Cox Classic” 18th Hole. More information will become available later this fall. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or if you would like information about tickets, contact the Scotus development office at 402 564 7165 or jschueth@esu7.org. All proceeds from the event were donated to the Scotus Legacy Capital Campaign for the remodeling of the locker rooms, installation of air conditioning in the classrooms, and payment for new boilers at Scotus Central Catholic High School.
