(Semester Meets Every Other Day)
ART 7 Grade 7 Required

This is an introductory art course exploring various art mediums. Students will create art in relation to an overview of specific art history eras. Art assignments will include a variety of techniques in drawing, and painting media. The artistic periods discussed will range from Pre-historic, Ancient Egypt, Greek and Roman, and the Medieval time periods.

ART 8 Grade 8 Required

Emphasis is on the elements of art with an introduction to the principles of design through a variety of mediums and techniques. Color theory will be introduced. Art projects will include the mediums of drawing, painting, and printmaking. Art history periods discussed will include the Renaissance, Impressionism, Surrealism, and Modern Art.

(Full Year Meets Every Other Day – 5 Credits)
ART I Grades 9-12 Elective

Several art techniques and artists will be explored to provide the student with a variety of experiences in four major art disciplines including: drawing, sculpture, printmaking, and painting. Students will apply the elements of art and principles of design in their respective works. Students will also understand the role that artists play in society.

(Full Year – 10 Credits)
ART II Grades 10-12 Elective

Prerequisite: Art I

In this class students will further explore the various art techniques using a variety of drawing media. This course is designed to develop the student's drawing skills, understand composition, and apply the elements of art and principles of design. A $5.00 fee for materials will be assessed for this class. If class is filled there may be a portfolio review.

(Full Year – 10 Credits)
ART III Grades 11-12 Elective

Prerequisite: Art I, Art II or permission from the instructor

This class is a culmination of techniques learned in Art I and Art II. Students will work with various painting media. The students will produce works in watercolor, collage, acrylic, and water-soluble oil paints. Research will be done on various artists throughout art history, their style, and their paintings. Color theory will be incorporated into the units as well as the elements of art and principles of design with a strong emphasis on composition. A $5.00 fee for materials will be assessed for this class.

(Semester – 5 Credits)
PRINTMAKING Grades 11-12 Elective

Prerequisite: Art I

Printmaking is a hands-on class where students will experiment with various printmaking methods including monoprints, collographs, lino and/or woodcuts, and plexiglass engravings. Class instruction will include demonstrations for each method, in-depth study of each method and exploration into the work of printmaking artists. A small fee may be assessed to cover the cost of printmaking paper.
