Annual Appeal
2009-2010 Annual Appeal Update
Donations to the 2009 Annual Appeal continue to come in for the replacement of windows in our north facing classrooms. The original goal of the drive was $30,000 for the replacement of windows in Vern Younger’s and Tom Salayard’s classrooms. However, because of the tremendous response from our supporters, and a charitable bid on the project, we will not only address the windows in Tom’s and Vern’s classrooms but also in Mrs. Tooley’s classroom, the band room and the offices of Gary Puetz and Annette Hash. Through April 20, 2010 Scotus received 692 donations totaling $47,581.86 including $138 from the Class of 1958’s class reunion fund. Thank you and God bless you!
Each fall Scotus conducts the Annual Appeal to raise funds for special projects needed by the school. Most recent annual appeals have funded the installation of a new computer labs for students to use, new doors at the major entrances of the school, and a high-tech surveillance and entrance lock system to enhance the security of the school. Many of our donors have also applied for matching gifts from their companies—effectively doubling the size of their donation to support Scotus Central Catholic High School.
An Annual Appeal phonathon is conducted by members of the National Honor Society at Scotus and Student Council using cell phones provided by Bolte-Styskal Wireless of Columbus. Since we are unable to reach everyone by phone, all of our alumni and many of our friends receive an appeal envelope in their fall alumni newsletter.
Although cash and security donations are preferred to help Scotus fund special projects, donations of personal property such as jewelry, automobile or other valuable property are often accepted by the school.
If you would like to make a donation today, send your check to: Scotus Central Catholic, Annual Appeal, 1554 18 Ave, Columbus NE 68601 or make a donation on-line through the Scotus web site.
A very generous response from 603 donors has helped the 2008-09 annual appeal reach a donation mark of $37,325—well above the original $20,000 goal to refinish and re-tape the playing surface of the Dowd Activity Center. Work was scheduled to be completed in early May on the floor. Annual Appeal expenses for printing, postage and phone charges were $1,099.71. Because the drive was so successful, new high efficiency lighting was also installed in the Dowd Activity Center and any additional funds will support the completion of the locker room renovation project. The number of donors who have responded to this appeal is nearly double the response that Scotus received in any previous annual appeal drive. Thank you for your wonderful support!
